WhatsApp has officially Rolls out About Notes Feature and overhauled its ‘About’ section, turning it from a static profile note into an active, auto-expiring status tool. This new feature lets users share small updates that will disappear after some time, thus making the About section more interactive and relevant than ever before.
What’s new in About Notes Feature
Unlike older permanent About lines such as “Busy” or “Available,” the new edition allows users to set temporary notes that disappear after a duration of their choice. By default, updates disappear after 24 hours; however, users can extend updates to be available for days, weeks, and even longer. This makes it easier to share real-time availability, moods, or quick updates without having to constantly edit the profile.
To make updates more engaging, WhatsApp now supports emojis in About notes. Whether it’s “Travelling today ✈️” or “Working late ????,” users can introduce some personality and emotion into their updates. The design is inspired by Instagram Notes; this is a casual, light way to communicate with contacts.

Improved visibility
The redesigned About section is no longer buried deep within settings. Updates now appear directly inside of chats and profile views, making sure your contacts see the latest status about you instantly. Such an upgrade in visibility makes it a very practical tool for quick communication, especially for busy professionals or social users who want to keep their friends informed.
Privacy Controls
Similar to WhatsApp Status, the new About Notes feature will come with its own set of privacy settings. This means that users can choose who gets to view their updates for ultimate control over visibility. Whether you want to share with all contacts or limit it to close friends, the feature adapts to your preference.
