Meta is testing an Instagram iPad app! The long-awaited update will bring an improved interface, better editing tools, and enhanced multitasking.
Finally, after years of waiting, Instagram is creating a native iPad app, bringing an enhanced experience to users of Apple tablets. For quite some time, Instagram has been accessible on iPads as a stretched-out iPhone experience, which never really took advantage of the greater screen real estate or offered an optimal browsing experience. But all of this is set to change!
A Better Instagram Experience on iPad
Meta has officially announced that the official Instagram iPad app is in the works, and testing has already begun. While the release date hasn’t been made public, the app is set to roll out sometime later this year, which makes it one of the most eagerly anticipated features for Instagram users.

The new app offers an even more intuitive interface, easier navigation, and enhanced photo and video editing tools specifically designed for iPads. This translates to smoother browsing, easy content creation, and optimized multitasking features.
Why Did It Take So Long?
The absence of an iPad-exclusive Instagram app has been a common gripe for Apple users. Development needs and resource prioritization have been the reasons given by Meta in the past for not building a tablet-tailored experience earlier. In spite of long-time users calling for many years, the need was still concentrated on improving the mobile and desktop-based experiences—until now.
What’s Next?
While the tests are already being run, iPad owners can look forward to having a more immersive Instagram experience soon. Coming to the app will be additional features specific to the iPad that may include improved multi-window support, drag-and-drop, and UI enhancements unique to the larger screen.
