Pakistan unveils National AI Fund to power startups, train youth, and build tech hubs—aiming to become a global leader in artificial intelligence by 2030.
In a historic step to place itself at the vanguard of global technological advancement, Pakistan has launched its National Artificial Intelligence Fund (NAIF) officially under the newly released National AI Policy 2025. The project, led by the Ministry of IT and Telecom, is designed to make the nation a regional hub for artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technology.
Fueling Innovation Across Sectors
The National AI Fund is also aimed at driving AI-led innovation in key areas such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and governance. With its strong framework consisting of AI Innovation Funds, venture capital backing, and Centers of Excellence in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, the fund is set to drive research, entrepreneurship, and public-private partnerships.

Empowering the Workforce of Tomorrow
One of the boldest targets of the policy is to educate 200,000 people every year in AI technology, with a view to having 1 million skilled professionals by 2030. The government further intends to introduce 3,000 AI scholarships, fund 1,000 research studies, and initiate 50,000 civic AI applications in the coming five years.
Bridging the Digital Divide
The policy is focused on inclusivity and closing the digital divide by providing education and resources in AI to women, individuals with disabilities, and marginalized communities. A National High-Tech Internship Program will offer hands-on training in AI, cybersecurity, and blockchain so that Pakistan’s youth is ready for jobs of the future.
Experts believe that if implemented well, the National AI Fund has the potential to unlock unparalleled opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and international competitiveness.
