After the budget, the Suzuki Alto price in Pakistan jumps, raising concerns for middle-class buyers counting on affordable and efficient mobility
If you’re in Pakistan and were thinking of purchasing a Suzuki Alto, you may need to take a seat, because the Suzuki Alto price just made a sudden jump north following the newly released Budget 2025–26.
What was formerly regarded as the middle class’s go-to option—the economical, gas-thrifty little battler for urban streets—now costs significantly more. Why? A mixture of higher General Sales Tax (GST) and the recently enacted Green Tax is pushing prices higher across the board.
What’s Changed?
In the fresh federal budget, the GST on cars with engines below 850cc (where the Alto falls) has gone up from 12.5% to 18%. On top of that, a 1% green tax has been imposed on all internal combustion engine (ICE) cars under 1300cc. Result: A price hike that has customers scratching their heads.

The government’s logic is obvious: cut carbon emissions, transition to electric vehicles (EVs), and make the auto industry more sustainable in the long term. But the immediate blow, particularly to lower-end buyers, is real. With the cost of fuel increasing as well as the new carbon levy, it is less and less affordable to own a compact vehicle every day.
What Now?
For potential customers, the choices are changing. Some will postpone purchase, others will consider pre-owned vehicles, and more and more are now rethinking hybrid or EV options. Although the Suzuki Alto is still a good choice, the new Suzuki Alto price may deter many from visiting the dealership.
