TikTok removes 25 million videos in Pakistan alone, citing violations such as misinformation, mature themes, and privacy risks.
TikTok has published its Q1 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, outlining actions taken by the platform to maintain safety and integrity on the platform between January and March 2025. Across the world, the platform took down more than 211 million videos, which represented about 0.9% of all content uploaded. 184.4 million were removed programmatically, with 99% proactive removal and 94.3% removed within 24 hours.
TikTok restored 7.5 million videos after review, an indication of its dedication to unbiased moderation. It also started testing large language models (LLMs) to enhance comment moderation. It suspended more than 19 million livestreams, a 50% boost from the last quarter—a sign of its increasing emphasis on real-time enforcement.
Pakistan-Specific Observations and Violations
TikTok Removes 24,954,128 videos in Pakistan with a proactive removal rate of 99.4% and deleted 95.8% within 24 hours. Misinformation (45.5%), sensitive or mature content (30.1%), privacy and security violations (15.6%), and AI-generated or edited material (13.8%) were the most prevalent violations.
These numbers demonstrate TikTok’s increased focus on fighting hate content and misinformation across the region.
