Pakistan has officially boarded the international wave of next-generation wireless technology with the adoption of WiFi 7 in Pakistan by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The adoption is a major step in the digital transformation of the country, putting Pakistan ahead of several regional counterparts in terms of embracing the latest connectivity standards. With Wi-Fi 7, consumers can look forward to lightning-fast internet speeds, extremely low latency, and a smooth performance across devices.

Releasing Date of Wifi 7 in Pakistan

Although Wi-Fi 7 was released worldwide in early 2024, Pakistan’s regulatory nod arrived in September 2025, enabling manufacturers and service operators to start shipping compatible devices and infrastructure. Hence, Wi-Fi 7 routers and services can be expected to go widely on sale in late 2025 and early 2026, particularly in urban areas such as Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.

Wi-Fi 5 vs. Wi-Fi 7: What’s the Difference?

Let’s put Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) together with Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) to understand the breakthrough:

FeatureWi-Fi 5 (802.11ac)Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be)
Max SpeedUp to 3.5 GbpsUp to 46 Gbps
Frequency Bands5 GHz only2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz
Channel Width80/160 MHzUp to 320 MHz
LatencyModerateUltra-low (ideal for gaming/AR)
Multi-Link OperationNot supportedSupported
Target Wake TimeLimitedEnhanced for battery efficiency

Wi-Fi 7 isn’t only faster, it’s more intelligent. It employs Multi-Link Operation (MLO) to connect devices over multiple bands in parallel, minimizing congestion and enhancing reliability. It’s ideal for 8K streaming, VR gaming, smart homes, and enterprise-class networks.

Wi-Fi 7 Router Price in Pakistan

Wi-Fi 7 routers have not yet been released in the Pakistani market, but they are about to enter it, with their prices set between PKR 55,000 and PKR 95,000, varying according to brand, specifications, and speed offerings. Top-end devices from TP-Link, ASUS, and Netgear have multi-gigabit speeds, tri-band support, and enhanced security features. The price point might look expensive, but early adopters as well as enthusiasts are already buying these routers to future-proof their home and office networks.

What This Means for Pakistan

The advent of Wi-Fi 7 in Pakistan is not just a technology upgrade—it’s the key to intelligent cities, improved education, and more effective businesses. With the support of the 6 GHz band, Wi-Fi 7 will reduce spectrum congestion, reduce the cost of broadband delivery, and enhance home, hospital, school, and government office connectivity. It’s also a huge leap toward closing the digital divide, particularly in underserved rural communities.
