The Oppo Reno 8 was amazing with its 50MP camera & charging. But the Reno 14 features a periscope lens & a larger battery.

Ever since its release in July 2022, the Oppo Reno 8 has been a great option for those who want flagship performance at a mid-range cost. With its slim design, powerful camera setup, and fast charging, it became the benchmark for Oppo’s Reno lineup. Looking back at its success story, we also compare it with the new Reno 14, highlighting how Oppo has transformed over the years.

Design & Display

The Oppo Reno 8 boasts a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, offering smooth and vivid visual effects with rich contrasts. The smartphone comes with a sleek unibody design, sporting Shimmer Gold and Silver Black colors, making it look great while being durable.

In comparison, the Oppo Reno 14 has a more expansive 6.59-inch LTPS OLED screen with an improved 120 Hz refresh rate, providing even smoother scrolling and gaming. The Pro model does one better with a 6.83-inch screen, solidifying its position as a high-end mid-range phone.

Performance & Processing Power

Under the bonnet, Oppo Reno 8 features the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor along with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB inbuilt storage. The processor supports smooth gaming and day-to-day operations without slowing down.

Meanwhile, the Reno 14 raises the bar with the new Dimensity 8350, and the Pro model gets the Dimensity 8450, providing better efficiency and processing performance. The Reno 14 also has models with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, making it better for heavy users.

Camera Captures

Photo buffs adored the Reno 8’s camera setup, which includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. The 32MP front camera captures crisp and bright selfies that are ideal for social media buffs.

Jump ahead to 2025, and the Reno 14 takes camera capabilities to the next level with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, allowing for enhanced zooming and low-light capabilities.

Power and Battery

The Reno 8 came with a 4,500mAh battery and 80W fast charging, which was able to hit 50% in just 11 minutes, a huge convenience for users on the go.

On the contrary, Oppo has greatly enhanced battery life on the Reno 14, with a 6,000mAh battery and support for 80W fast charging, providing greater screen time and fewer charging instances.
