Rice exports to China soar 84% in early 2025, highlighting Pakistan’s rising role in global food supply and trade diversification.

Pakistan’s agriculture industry is basking in a big victory as rice exports to China increased by a whopping 84% in the first half of 2025, which was a remarkable jump in the two-way trade and reflected the increasing global appetite for Pakistani rice.

A Record-Breaking Start to the Year

Based on official trade records, Pakistan shipped $35.93 million worth of rice to China from January to June 2025, a big jump from $19.53 million over the same period in the previous year. The stellar growth indicates not just rising demand but also Pakistan’s growing presence in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.

Why China Is Turning to Pakistan

China’s strategic pivot toward increasing its food imports from a diversified range of sources has created new opportunities for Pakistani exporters. With global supply chains strained and food security at the forefront, China is proactively looking for trusted partners—and Pakistan is moving forward.

What This Means for Pakistan

This export surge is more than statistics—it’s a sign of Pakistan’s increasing prominence in international agriculture. With momentum gained, stakeholders are bullish on the ability to maintain and even increase this growth. Investment in agricultural technology, enhanced logistics, and ongoing diplomatic outreach may help cement Pakistan as a premier rice exporter.
