Survive the creeping Night in Elden Ring Nightreign: A roguelike journey where Limveld reshapes with each run, leading to an epic showdown with the Nightlord.
Players have been plunged once more into the depths of hopelessness by FromSoftware with Elden Ring Nightreign, a roguelike survival game based on the unforgiving world of Limveld. It was released on May 29, 2025, and is a standalone game that pits players against three in-game days to fight the Nightlord, creating a story of desperation, strategy, and short-lived hope.
A World in Darkness
Whereas Elden Ring Nightreign offers open-world exploration, Nightreign features a procedurally generated survival mode, ensuring that no two experiences are ever the same. Limveld changes with every run, altering enemy positions, resources, and environmental dangers such that every survival run is distinct and challenging in its way.
Night, an unnatural corruption devouring the world, transforms all it touches. The players must quickly learn to scrounge weapons, relics, and runes while steering clear of abominations surrounding them.

Key Nightreign Features
Three-Player Co-op: Nightreign is all about collaboration, with up to three warriors working together in the struggle for survival.
Solo Mode: For the solo adventurer, updates have leveled the playing field, providing equitable yet challenging difficulty.
Unique Heroes (Nightfarers): Rather than a blank-slate Tarnished, players take on existing characters with established powers.
Dynamic Environments: The environment adapts from session to session, making each try unique.
Timed Survival: With only three in-game days before the Nightlord, strategy and efficiency are the keys.
Community Reactions & Controversies
The largest controversy surrounding Elden Ring Nightreign has been its three-player-only co-op design. Fans expecting classic two-player Soulsborne co-op were dismayed when FromSoftware left out the option due to balance reasons. Within days of release, though, PC modders created a patch enabling two-player co-op, circumventing the game’s official restrictions.
Also included in Patch 1.02 were critical enhancements, such as automatic respawning for single players and boosted rune rewards to make single-player play possible.
