WhatsApp Profile Picture update lets users import images from Facebook or Instagram, no more duplicate uploads.
Meta is rolling out a new WhatsApp feature that enables users to directly import their profile images from Facebook and Instagram. This feature, seen in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.23 for Android, simplifies the updating of profile pictures across the apps. Instead of having to upload the same picture manually every time, users can now select “Add from Facebook” or “Add from Instagram” when modifying their WhatsApp profile.
Seamless Syncing via Meta’s Account Center
Users must connect their WhatsApp account to Meta’s Account Center, a centralized platform for managing linked apps, to activate this feature. When connected, WhatsApp can retrieve the profile picture from the chosen platform with user permission.

Notably, the feature is turned off by default, leaving users with complete discretion to decide whether or not to turn it on. Meta emphasizes that the integration does not weaken WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption or privacy requirements.
Beta Rollout and Future Availability
As of now, the feature is live only for beta testers on Android with no announced timeline for broader rollout. That being said, its availability on the beta channel indicates that Meta is actively developing cross-platform functionality.
As Meta tightens its integration of services further, this release is another step toward a unified user experience on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Interested users can try it in advance by joining the WhatsApp beta program or wait for the stable release in the next few months.
