Resident Evil Requiem brings Grace & Leon to Raccoon City in a bold new chapter, possibly ending Umbrella’s legacy. Coming to PC, PS5 & Xbox in 2026.

Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be a daring new direction for Capcom’s classic survival horror franchise. Though not a sequel per se to Resident Evil Village, Requiem furthers the overall story of bioterrorism and worldwide repercussions of Umbrella Corporation’s actions. Instead of continuing Ethan Winters’ saga, the game shifts to a new cast and location, which would imply thematic rather than chronological continuity.

The tone and framework of the game seem to be grittier and more urban, bringing players back to Raccoon City’s mayhem in a large, semi-open world setting.

Dual Protagonists and New Perspectives

Players will control two unique characters in Resident Evil Requiem: Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. Grace is a new character—a new protagonist who is an FBI analyst and has connections to the Resident Evil Outbreak series via her mother, Alyssa. Her investigative nature and fresh eyes provide a new perspective on the franchise’s lore. Leon, one of the series’ fan-favorite veterans, returns for possibly his last mission.

His episodes have been said to include more brutal combat and stealth systems, reminiscent of The Last of Us Part II, while that of Grace focuses on exploration and puzzle-solving.

Platform Availability and Technical Details

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem will launch on PC, in addition to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This will allow console and PC players alike to enjoy the game’s next-gen visuals, extensive environments, and overhauled gameplay systems.

The game is constructed atop the RE Engine, which has driven recent releases such as Resident Evil 2 Remake and Village, boasting high-fidelity visuals and silky-smooth performance on all platforms. With a launch date of February 27, 2026, fans will surely hear more technical information and system requirements in the run-up to release.

The Future of Resident Evil

Leaks indicate that Requiem can act as a thematic conclusion to the Resident Evil numbered titles, perhaps ending the book on the Umbrella Corporation’s lengthy and convoluted legacy. Should this be the case, it would represent a turning point for the series, paving the way for new forms of storytelling or spin-offs.

The emotional significance of Leon’s reported goodbye lends weight to the game’s story, and Grace’s introduction suggests a new generation of heroes. With Gamescom 2025 set to feature a big reveal, fans can’t wait for a closer look at what promises to be one of the most ambitious Resident Evil games yet.
