The Apna Meter Apni Reading Power smart app, will now enable users to perform their meter readings. This will bring transparency to the billing system.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday launched a new “Apna Meter Apni Reading Power Smart App” for transparency and consumer empowerment in the power sector. The app aims to provide a permanent solution to problems such as overbilling, reading errors, and reading delays.
According to a statement issued by the Power Division, consumers will have the facility to upload a picture of their electricity meter on the app on the due date, and their monthly electricity bill will be prepared on the basis of that picture.
According to officials, with the new app, users will not only be able to keep an eye on their bills. But I am also the custodian of the reading process itself. The move will bring transparency to the billing system, and consumers will be billed according to their actual consumption of electricity.
Benefits of Smart Power App
In the new system, the reading taken by the meter reader after the appointed day will not be given priority, but only the picture and reading provided by the user will be fed into the official record. This will help customers avoid overcharging.

The average bill of consumers consuming up to 200 units of electricity is around Rs 2,330, and if they provide their readings on time, they will also be able to get the timely benefit of subsidies and other government incentives.
Under the app system, if both the user and the meter reader upload the reading, then the lower reading will be preferred so that the users get financial security.

The Power Division says that modern features like “Apna Meter Apni Reading Power Smart App” are not only making the electricity system digital. It will also be a source of consumer empowerment and improvement in the power distribution system.
